Sadly, because the internet is, well, the internet, there are far too many tapes popping up each day on DatPiff, Soundcloud, AudioMack and LiveMixTapes for any normal person to actually listen to all of them, so over the year we’ve endeavored to separate the wheat from the chaff each week and find ten worthy of closer inspection. While our list may not fall in line with other best of lists so far this year, we urge listeners to take a unique journey through different genres and stylistic elements below. We have compiled a list of acclaimed and lesser-known, yet equally as inviting videos below. Animation also makes an appearance on our list with the claymation in “Shake” and cartoonish style in “Trippy’s Theme”. If a more standard approach is more your style, we recommend sticking with “Lazaretto”, or “You’re Not Good Enough”. When running through your day to day, à la Ryan Hemsworth in his video for “One For Me”, expect to be reminded of bizarre and grounded visuals alike, where Dillion Francis and DJ Snake’s “Get Low” and Chet Faker’s “Talk Is Cheap” represent the opposite ends of the spectrum. Whether it was a chill nod to the female figure courtesy of Schoolboy Q, or a high-energy sensory overload from Chromeo, 2014 has seen its fair share of distinct videos. ![]() In a year that has seen plenty of standouts within the musical spectrum, it would be easy to look past the array of exceptional videos to also be released. ![]()
